Last Night When We Were Young on CD

Jennifer Isaacs has worked with Cidade and guitarist Charlie Apicella for almost ten years. Located in the New York City area, Jennifer Isaacs is one of a new generation of jazz musicians. More than just a talented stage performer Jennifer Isaacs is also an arranger/composer/and lyricist. Her song choices and vocal stylings draw from a variety of genres while staying true to the jazz vocal tradition. With a University background in both jazz and classical voice, Jennifer's singing illustrates full control over a fine instrument. Jennifer offers a fresh perspective on classic standards with her unique voice and distinctive phrasing. She advances the genre with jazz and blues inspired songs of her own composition. Cidade features the expert guitar playing and careful arrangements of bandleader, Charlie Apicella as well as the beautiful solo violin playing of classically trained Amy Bateman. Cidade, meaning "city" in Portugese, concentrates on sophisticated elements of Latin Jazz, specifically tangos and bossa nova. Cidade also remains faithful to the standard jazz repertoire when possible featuring Jennifer Isaacs; the result is a rich blend of cool rhythm, classic storytelling, and exotic sensuality. Cidade is based dually out of New York/New Jersey as well as the Berkshire Valley. Cidade draws upon the works of such composers as Astor Piazzolla, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Carlos Gardel, and many contemporary composers.
