Trunkful of Twenty Tunes & Tales
- Artist: Christy Clown & Friends
- Format: CD
- Release Date:4/21/2009
Christy Clown was created by former Chicago singer/actress Jana Lapel in December 1975. That first solo performance launched a career of more than three decades of taking her trunkful of songs and stories back and forth across the border from Canada to the U.S. The Christy Clown & Friends troupe was formed in 1976 with an impressive lineup of talented pianists, dancers and singers taking turns onstage over the years. A stateside version of the troupe has performed in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. This jazzy musical theatre 'concert style' CD collection features 15 original songs and stories plus 5 familiar children's songs. Christy, played by Jana Lapel, is accompanied by jazz pianist, co-composer/arranger, and co-producer, Andrew Glover. Delightful interaction with KiKi, CoCo and Giggleguts the Clowns makes this audio performance a fun musical adventure for kids to participate in. They'll enjoy the colorful photos that offer a visual presence of the cast. Reviews from parents and grandparents tell us that even their toddlers enjoy dancing to the music...and they aren't old enough to understand the stories! Older children have called the CD 'wicked'...(translates as 'cool', 'super' and 'great')...as they listen along with their younger siblings. Teachers give it high marks for the value concepts tucked inside the songs and stories. It's a warm, fuzzy, inspiring, happy musical time! We hope you'll open the trunk and give the twenty tracks a listen too and join our celebration of love, family, friendship and fun!
