Taken Time on CD

Chris Burkhardt's latest release "Taken Time" (Jack Mango Recordings JMR001) is a solo CD that showcases his musicianship as a slide guitarist (1933 National Steel) vocalist, and harmonica player. Burkhardt's well crafted original songs and heartfelt renditions of traditional Delta Blues were captured "live" in the studio and display the passion, fervor, and spontaneity of the artist. This is what it sounds like to be influenced musically and poetically by Miles Davis, Mick Jagger, Son House, Bukka White and Charles Baudelaire all at the same time - introspectively, heart-breakingly, and deliciously blue. When Chris Burkhardt plays you feel the cry of the blues - everyone's blues. In the fall of 2005 Chris completed a successful solo tour of the Pacific Northwest. He is currently writing new material and performing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chris Burkhardt has been a professional musician since 1988, writing, performing, and recording as a soloist and as lead vocalist and bassist for the Board of Directors. The band received critical acclaim for their release "Choke Chain Blues" (BOD Records-SHNK001) and Chris was nominated "best bassist" at the 1998 South Bay Blues Awards. The Board of Directors continue to headline nightclubs throughout Northern California. Chris also tours internationally as bassist for the Chris Cain Band and E.C. Scott.
