Grandpa Flatpicked on CD

Charley Groth has been a musician all of his life. He tours the United States coast to coast and border to border., and internationally. Charley's music is the music of the American heritage: a potent brew of Americana ingredients which can include folk, blues, real country, swing/traditional jazz, ragtime, bluegrass, original songs and instrumentals, and more. A dynamic singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and teller of tales, Charley sings in a warm expressive baritone, is a noted guitar flatpicker and fingerpicker who plays in several styles and tunings, and is also a very accomplished player of 12-string guitar, mandolin, piano, Autoharp, Dobro, banjo, and other instruments. An energetic performer, Charley is entirely at ease onstage. With entertaining skills to match his musicianship, he makes his music, humor, and stories vividly memorable. He is a veteran recording artist who has played on a host of albums and has made several of his own. He has appeared on a multitude of radio and television shows. Charley lives in Florida, where he is producer and director of Florida's annual Sunshine State Acoustic Music Camp. He teaches music and has written and presented a series of heritage music road shows for the Florida Humanities Council. He appears each year as a feature in the renown Florida Folk Festival. He produces and directs the touring American Roots Revival shows. Among the better-known songs Charley has written are I Would Do It All Again, Songwriter's Blues, and After All These Years. All American Ride, Hazel Eyes, Kansas City Ramble, The Tickler and Friendship Waltz are among his many instrumental compositions. Charley is the writer of Florida Moon, a song widely covered by other artists, which has been selected as theme music for broadcasts of the Florida legislature. He is author of the book Words and Music, and a his essays and articles on music are archived in the Library of Congress. In 1989 the Bureau of Florida Folklife, Department of State, named Charley a Florida Master Artist. Doc Watson, Merle Travis, the Country Gentlemen, Bill Monroe, Charlie Louvin, Patsy Montana, Tom T. Hall, Ricky Skaggs, Jim and Jesse McReynolds, Vassar Clements, Charlie Louvin, legendary Cajun singer D. L.
