Another Day on CD

Charity Bigaruka comes from Uganda, East Africa, a country curiously called the "Pearl of Africa" by Winston Churchill. Her debut album - "Another Day" - brings together a diverse group from different African origins and together they make a beautiful, joyful noise, the sound of true praise to God. The daughter of Rev. Ezra and Dinah Bigaruka, Charity is the sixth in a family of nine originally, now seven siblings: Florence-Doreen Musiime, Kenneth, Gwen, Edgar-Paul, Edward and Edwin. Charity grew up surrounded by music. At age 10, she was playing Beethoven, Bach, and Scott Joplin piano pieces. She studied music at Gayaza High School in Uganda for six years, was the choir leader, school pianist, and later taught music at the same school for two years. She participated, at 14 years of age, in a musical (Jacob and sons) which inspired her so much that 10 years later, as a teacher, she reproduced and directed it, all from memory. While a Mass Communication student at Makerere University, her inexorable song-writing skills could be heard in radio advertising jingles. Her piano playing earned her invitations to play for various secular bands, most of which she declined. She did, however, play occasionally at her local church, Kampala Pentecostal Church. In February 1998, Charity's road rose to bring her to Boston Massachusetts. She has held various roles from singing, training the choir, giving piano instruction, to Music Director at her church. She is deeply passionate about the subject of her songs, and confesses that she lives to know Jesus and make Him known.
