Description

Telemetry on CD

With mandolins, electric guitars, distant cellos and synths Ceti Alpha's Telemetry treads the streetcorners of it's coastal town like a a long walk down the quiet, empty sidewalks you call home. Standing in this sonic puddle Ceti Alpha hands out emotionally bitten performances with a grim understanding of poor hearts, broken hands, and bad electricity. Singing over desolate barrooms, street fights, isolated winters, and lost and found notions of love Ceti Alpha composes a matter-of-fact panoramic vision of their corner in their second full length album (The Street 2006). Telemetry's diverse musical styling comes from the many different musical hands of the local indy pool in which Ceti Alpha employed to accompany them on this release. There's the pop piano white sun filled room of 'Darkside Hill' the nightmarish synth grind of '8 Track', the pale faced delievery of 'Blue Skies'', the warm folk face of 'Working For The Devil' and 'Sparrow' and the cold edge of 'She Went Over'. On top of each of these tracks appears the voice of Nick Bevan-John singer, songwriter, and arranger of Dartmouth Nova Scotia's Ceti Alpha. Recorded in various rooms, basements, hallways, closets, staircases, and studios in Dartmouth NS it's 12 tracks contains a myriad of players and engineers such as: Dave MacMichael, James McNeil, Mike Nunes- (The Danger Bees), Mike Conrad -(BloodBath), Joe Landry (Ryan McGrath and The Missing City Starlight), Rachael Swartz (The Got To Get Got), Phil Tompkins (Asbestos We Can), Jesse Webber (The Scoop Outs),Grant Mitchell, Kenny LeBlanc, Brad Conrad, Suzanne Demeter, Jonathan Shaw and Rhys Bevan-John.
