Cairo & Hough Instrumentals on CD

Chris Cairo & Brian Hough join together to bring you beautiful sensitive interwoven acoustic guitar patterns with an edgy and sazy electric guitar tease. Together they bring you music that is pretty, soft and meaningful and an enjoyment for your listening pleasure. There's smooth jazz, country and soft rock on the many diverse cuts. The musicianship of the many musicians contributing is excellent. Peter Willson and his exquisite piano add to the beauty of a number of the songs Mike Devison and Scotty Sex share the druming credits and both are excellent, sensitive and precise. Jim Nash--well known at the Yale Hotel, Vancouver's historic blues bar, plays bass And---Dave Say plays beautiful flute as well as several different kinds of horns on multiple cuts. Together we all hope that this music brings you many hours of listening pleasure. About Chris Cairo Drawn by his love of music and songwriting Chris Cairo first came on the Vancouver music scene in 1981 when he became involved running an open stage one night a week for the 'Open Door Music Society' at the legendary 'Soft Rock Cafe' on Fourth Avenue in Kitsilano. The 'Soft Rock' was a landmark in Vancouver and many musicians international and local passed thru it's doors like Ravi Shankar, Skywalk, Ferron and hundreds of others. Chris Cairo and Brian Hough met at the Soft Rock Cafe among the hundreds of musicians and artists that worked, played and hung out there. They first played together thru out a couple of years at the Soft Rock sharing the night with other groups such as 'Mae Moore and the Dream Babies' and 'Devon Hanley'. Thru his connections with the Soft Rock and and the music society Chris ended up having two radio shows on Vancouver's 'Co-Op Radio'. One show was called 'West Coast Music' and was dedicated to playing the original music of Canadian West Coast Musicians with interviews and in studio performances. Many Vancouver Musicians at the time were live on the show like Valdy, Clare Lawrence and Gary Cramer--5440 played live in the studio before they even had there first album. The second radio show was 'Live from the Waterfront' a live broadcast originating from the Waterfront Bar on Powell Street where every Friday night four or five bands would take to the stage and Chris would be in the basement/band room of the club broadcasting them live on the radio, groups like the 'Young Canadians', 'Rubber Biscuit',' Bruno Gerussi's Medallion' and dozens more. This lead to more live radio broadcasts like the 'Bob Marley Tribute' every year from the Commadore Ballroom and the annual 'Carribean Day' festival. Following this Chris started working in audio for television and broadcast many bands on TV over the last 23 years from 'Ckvu' and 'CTV' in Vancouver and mixed regularly for 'Breakfast TV', 'Vicky Gabereau Show' and 'MTV' .as well as playing music at small clubs in Vancouver with various musicians thru out the years. Originally getting started in the Vancouver Music Scene because of his guitar, Chris is very pleased to have finally spent more time on his own music making it possible to complete the CD---Cairo & Hough. We hope you enjoy it. About Brian Hough Brian Hough started playing guitar when he was knee high to a grasshopper and was a protege of Tony ( the cooker) Cooke. Originally coming from the Ottawa Valley he played with a variety of bands in the Ottawa area over the years before relocating to Vancouver British Columbia. In Vancouver he has played in many bands and combinations of musicians and performed in a lot of the clubs in the city. Brian has played a wide range of music from Punk with 'Jim Bescott' (Young Canadians) to pop and jazz with 'Keith Stein' ( Juno award winning producer/engineer Heart, Prism, Loverboy etc ). Currently Brian is playing in multiple bands, he still plays often with Keith Stein around town and also enjoys playing gigs with the 'Oliver Evans Quintet'. Another band that Brian Hough has been a mainstay with in Vancouver is the 'Tom Coley Band' which has been together many years and is particularly popular in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver and has a dedicating following. Brian is comfortable cranking out blasting heavy metal chords with searing leads or playing sweet, sweet beautiful soft notes and chords on a accoustic guitar and every once in a while he likes to pull out the classical guitar to mix it up a bit. As you can hear Brian has poured his heart and soul into the notes of this CD and hopes it will bring you much listening pleasure.
