It was 1967 in San Bernardino, California. Mom and Dad bought me a Silvertone guitar from Sears and Roebuck when I was 14, and paid for lessons with the Reverend Charles Applegate. The thing about the reverend was he gave me access to the music I wanted to learn. He was cool. He taught me how to play Beatles and Rolling Stones tunes. I saved my allowance, ditched my Clark Kent glasses and bought some wire rims. The first time I heard a slide guitar, I said 'man, I got'ta learn to play that stuff. That's got soul.' I listened to all the old slide stuff I could lay hold of, and taught myself to play. I toured around Montana and California with the Wooden Nickel Band in the 1970's. Living in Oregon for the last sixteen years, I continue to develop my own slide style. Last May, my good friend Paul Marshall offered to help me make my first CD. I took him up on it in February, and this is the product of friendship and long hours well spent. I hope you enjoy the music.
