Bone Daddie on CD

Bone Daddie's self-titled disc is a perfect blend of modern rock and power pop, with touches of metal and blues effortlessly tied in. The disc quickly finds it's groove with the hard-charging Bitterness but explores several satisfying directions before exhaling into a subdued, yet compelling conclusion in Don't Ignore Me. The lyrics can be dark but are hardly depressing; the sad theme behind Back When is effectively masked by an upbeat tempo and infectious chorus. The haunting Worry slowly builds to a strong vocal climax on top of a recurring musical cascade. Blue Thang is an unrelenting instrumental jam while Losing My Patience seamlessly embeds a mellow, Floyd-like bridge into a varied-tempo hard rock performance. Gravy tops it off with a touch of verve and whimsy that much of the band's devoted audience can probably relate to. There are no wasted beats in a Bone Daddie song, and every track finds both a peak and a resolution. Bone Daddie has entertained audiences all around Indiana for several years. Their professionalism is immediately noticeable, from the cohesive crispness of the music and vocals all the way to the polished artwork of the jacket. The vocals of Joe Hine range from a smooth, powerful roar to a lively and nimble romp, while the expert guitar work of Jimmie Lamson epitomizes the extreme effort and talent of the entire crew. Bone Daddie makes you believe again that thoughtful lyrics, creativity, and instrumental proficiency really can unite into a single tight package.
