In Day As Dark on CD

Blei is a three piece rock band out of Portland, OR with a raw, innovative sound. Their brilliantly sequenced release, In Day As Dark, glows with pure eclectic noise. Deep, melodic male vocals backed by a gentle, airy female voice brings something unique to the table. Q & A WITH THE BAND: WHAT INSPIRES YOU? ZACK: ' I feel like Susan is the muse for half of the songs. Those songs are inspired by love. The other half are fear based. Love and Fear. Songs like 'Over' and 'Last Breath' come from an obsession with death and the afterlife. WHY ARE YOU A MUSICIAN? SUSAN: 'The love of music and art have been a part of my persona for as long as I can remember. It was the same for Zack. It's eerie how similar our musical tastes and art backrounds are. It was fate that drew us together. DO YOU PREFER PLAYING LIVE OR IN THE STUDIO? ZACK: 'One hand feeds the other. Like Ian MacKaye from Fugazi says,'The record is the menu and the live show is the meal.' We like to mix it up a bit live. Some songs have sections where we really don't know what's going to happen. We only know when to come out of it when the drummer changes beats.' New website: bleitheband.com Recorded and mixed with Nick Moon at Crossroads and Supernatural. Mastered by Don C. Tyler at Precision(L.A.)
