Betty McCullough was born to the late George and Gertrude Jones who lovingly saw to it that the purpose God had for her life was developed. Her wise and godly mother encouraged her to study and to share her God-given gift of music. Betty grew up with a "player-roll" piano and began playing from the age of three. She remembers trying to keep up with the keys on the piano while the piano player roll played the song "I'm But a Stranger Here." Betty feels that she's been trying to keep up with the keys on the piano ever since. Over the years, God has chosen to deposit songs into Betty's spirit. She realizes that the songs were not for her alone, and has shared them with the world. Many groups were blessed to sing Betty's songs, such as: Hallelujah Chorus of Philadelphia, Inspirational Fellowship Choir, Voices of Praise, and Sound of Joy. Betty's first publication of her music was the song "He Will Keep You in Perfect Peace," which was published in the African-America Heritage Hymnal. A collection of Betty's songs has been published, entitled Psalms, Hymns, Spiritual Songs. The Betty McCullough Tribute Ensemble recently completed a live recording featuring her songs, titled "An Afternoon of Worship." Born in 2006, the ensemble is comprised of men and women from the greater Philadelphia area who share a love for God and a passion for Betty's music. The ensemble has been richly blessed by the opportunity to perform beautiful music which lifts the spirit and inspires the listener to worship.
