Faraway Sun on CD

Bernadine Bradshaw nee Kehoe Bernadine was born in Melbourne, Australia, into a very large, Irish Australian musical family. Both of her parents are direct descendants of two of the three main bard families of Ireland, her mother a Daly descended from those of Carrickfergus, and her father a Kehoe who emigrated from Wicklow in the 1950's. All of the Kehoes sing beautifully. Bernadine studied classical singing techniques with Murray Mardardy in Melbourne for 6 years, while completing an honours degree at Melbourne University. She has since trained many singers herself, privately and in choirs, children and adults. While she has taught mathematics and science in schools for many years, Bernadine is passionate about music education, especially with regard to singing. Too often the joy of self-expression is stifled by a blind adherence to 'correct technique' . especially in children's choirs. Children can be heard in the song Star in the night on Faraway Sun. This recording is a debut album for Bernadine and Matthew. Matthew Bradshaw Matthew was born in Melbourne in the fifty's. At the age of 6 he sang as a treble in the Christ Church choir. This choral education continued throughout his 10 years of schooling and beyond, when he studied classical singing with Murray Mardardy and sang with the 'Mardardy Singers' for several years. He has played nylon classical guitars since buying his first Yairi guitar with earnings from singing in choirs at weddings at Christ Church in the sixties. Matthew first met Bernadine whilst playing harmonica guitar and mandolin in the band 'Fairweather' in Melbourne in the late 70's, for which she was lead singer. Matthew has worked in varied environments from farming to bread baking . He graduated as a mature age external student of the University of New England in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts and also a Diploma of Education (science) 2005.
