Love Along the Way is the acclaimed debut CD from singer/ songwriter/spiritual leader Batya Diamond. 'Batya channels the spirit with all of her heart, and with all her soul...and we are all the richer for her gift of music,' writes popular Jewish recording artist Craig Taubman. Batya blends Torah teachings, prayer texts and her own wisdom with contemporary music, to craft songs that are both deeply meaningful and yet easily accessible. Her sound is eclectic: the eleven songs on this CD range from pop/folk to a world music feel; from chant to plaintive ballad - some in English, some in Hebrew, all with faithful translations. Expertly arranged and produced by the talented David Morgan, there is much to discover in hearing the songs again and again. Renewal Rabbi Andrea Cohen-Kiener calls Love Along the Way 'lyrical and musical, well-arranged, an awesome first CD. This is soul food, literally. I am grateful that The Holy One is tapping so soundly on Batya's shoulder, whispering songs into her ear.' Musicians: David Morgan, keyboards, background vocals, drums on Where I Belong; Ben Butler, guitars; Gilad Dobrecky, percussion; Dave Richards, bass. Batya's life journey led her from Brooklyn, New York to 'the five towns' of Long Island, to Smith College, New York City and Wilton, Connecticut. Born Ellen Minsky, Batya has been a lawyer, a private investigator, a radio deejay, rabbinical student, and a wife and mother. Her name or voice may be familiar to those of you who listen to WEBE 108 (CT), where Batya was formerly the afternoon traffic reporter! Batya is the founder and spiritual leader of the Wilton Jewish Center-Nefesh Yehudi, a community that gathers for worship, Torah study, meditation, healing circles, and women's Rosh Chodesh celebrations. She also officiates at many private ceremonies, and is a teacher of all things Jewish. Batya is currently at work on her next CD, a collection of songs for Jewish children - and their parents!
