Beauty Bent Not Broken on CD

Eric Barnett is an ambient / experimental guitarist from Galion, OH. Recording in his home studio, he uses the looping and layering of various instruments to create soundscapes and textures for melodies to rest upon. Live, he uses multiple looping pedals and extended techniques on guitar in an attempt to not only replicate those recordings, but to improvise upon them. Matt Baumann is a saxophonist from St. Louis, Missouri currently residing in Cincinnati, Ohio. Known for his open, searching, and exploratory style of playing; Matt is a member of the duo group 'Upaj' with tabla master Jim Feist and is now the second half of the duo Barnett / Baumann. When not playing with Jim Feist or Eric Barnett, Matt can be found playing his solo songs and improvisations on the streets of Cincinnati, in the pavilion at the Cincinnati Art Museum, or in Cincinnati's great local coffeehouses. 'Beauty Bent, Not Broken' is the first album and collaboration between Eric Barnett and Matt Baumann. Although the recording of this record was completed very quickly, the result was an extremely beautiful exchange of melody and texture. It will quickly remind those familiar with the ECM sound of the haunting echoes and subtle melody captured so often on those famous recordings. Please continue to look for more music in the future from Barnett / Baumann.
