Verdes Aos on CD

Verdes Años, 'The Green Years.' - If you love acoustic music, you should check out this recording of Portuguese Fado, Brazilian Chorinho, and original Waltzes and Rumbas. While not typical, this pairing of the classical guitar with the clarinet will surprise some listeners with it's abundantly warm and inviting sound. The album sets a mood that is evocative, romantic, and deeply emotional. At it's heart are latin and jazz moods intertwined with classical structures and lyrical, expressive melodies. Each track on the disc shines with individual character. Check out the sound clips: the thirteen pieces on Verdes Años take the imagination on an enchanting musical journey. Audiophiles will particularly appreciate the high sonic quality and clarity of this recording, the result of the latest in high-definition digital technology. Azulão is Patrick Francis, guitar, and Keith Wilson, clarinet. Both classically trained musicians, the two share a musical vision that steps outside the borders of classical music to incorporate music from around the world. Performing together for nearly a decade, their music is a warm, category-defying blend of jazz, latin, and classical music. Keith is a musician with an appreciation for music of many kinds. Originally from Scotland, Wilson began playing clarinet at a young age and later attended London's Guildhall School of Music, where he studied with Jack Brymer, OB.E. Since that time, he has performed throughout Europe, China, Taiwan and Japan. Keith is now based in San Francisco, where he received a Ph.D in Chinese Philosophy at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Patrick is a guitarist as well as a composer and arranger. With an eclectic musical background in rock, jazz, and classical music, he composes and arranges in a style that blends those elements, creating distinctive pieces that cover a wide emotional and stylistic range. He holds a doctoral degree in music and has produced numerous new chamber works and arrangements, as well as music for dance, theater, and feature film. Francis currently makes his home in San Francisco, where he is also a member of the San Francisco Guitar Quartet (sfgq.com)
