Singing Peace to Power on CD

If we can sing together, we can march to victory together! 'Annie and the Vets' invites you to join with us in 'Singing Peace to Power!' 'Annie and the Vets', all members of 'Veterans for Peace,' who perform live at events in the San Francisco Bay Area now have produced their second CD with the hope that in some small way, their music will make known the true cost of war. Fans who purchased multiple copies of their first CD carried them to their friends and relatives in England and France. While only sold in the United States, we have reports that the CD also reached Germany, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand. We hope that will happen again with our second CD, 'Singing Peace to Power.' PERFORMERS George Johnson - US Navy, Vietnam, 1962-66 'When I met George I realized that his voice had the quality I was looking for so I asked him to sing with Anne and me, not knowing if he could. We were lucky because George had once been a drummer and, along with his excellent timing, he can sing on key!' (Phil Pflager) According to the Palo Alto Weekly, George has an '...emotion-filled voice (that) sounds like he gargles with gravel every morning.' Phil Pflager - US Air Force, 1961-65 (incl. Vietnam) After discovering the electric guitar, Phil played in rock & roll and country bands from high school through his military service. He more recently discovered acoustic music and organized a Bluegrass band that played at the Good Old- Fashioned Bluegrass festival in Hollister, California. When it became apparent that the government had forsaken the goal of a peaceful world, songs of peace took center stage and other musical endeavors moved to the back burner. While 'Annie and the Vets' isn't his only musical interest, it now takes up most of his spare time. Anne E. Pflager - Veterans' Supporter Anne is the 'Annie' in 'Annie and the Vets.' She has a mind like a tape recorder and is able to remember the lyrics to hundreds of songs as well as the tunes. In the past ten years she has developed a solid guitar style which supports most of the songs that 'Annie and the Vets' perform. Navy veteran Lynne Hill We used the special finger-style guitar skills of Navy veteran Lynne Hill when we recorded a song by Larry Penn, 'The Sins of the Father.' We wanted to duplicate Larry's guitar style as closely as possible and Lynne did an excellent job! 'Annie and the Vets' hope that you will join us in 'Singing Peace to Power' and we hope that you will tell your friends of our CD! Proceeds received from sales of this CD are going to Veterans for Peace.
