Zach Kadro formed Animal Chinz in Nov. 2005 immediately after disbanding his former project Gryphon Shepherd. With the help of drummer Matt Voss, and preproduction help from their two brothers, the two arranged songs that Zach had written and within two months of playing were ready to perform and record. One of their first shows was to a packed house at fifth avenue in Detroit for the motor city music conference in March of 2006. After that they received airplay on the Ralph Valdez program on WDET 101.9 FM in Detroit. They received an entusiastic response from their live performances and demos and decided to record a full length album. After a number of live shows around Detroit at some of the best known venues such as the Magic Stick and the Lager House, and a number of lesser known dives, they released their debut album with a live show at the Magic Stick in November of 2006. 89X FM in Detroit took a liking to the band and has played their music on the homeboy's show as well as having the band play radio station events. They followed up with some regional touring to places like Chicago and Milwaukee, and continued to play everywhere around Detroit, the surrounding Metro areas, and colleges in Michigan. Word of the band has spread and they are earning a reputation as a hard working band with unique original music and a rockn' live set. Animal Chinz are currently working on material for a follow up album and continuing to tour in support of their debut album 'the real lesson.' Although the album deals with many passionate and courageous themes the band also has a sense of humor. The album title was taken from an episode of the British Comic Ali G in which Ali G asks his guest from the British Ministry of something, 'so what is the lesson, the real lesson,' which band members would say to each other when someone would get a little long winded. Animal Chinz have solidified a great linuep of musicians and will continue to perform, record, and experiment in 2007.
