Against the Grain on CD

Al Dawson, a native of the Midwest, has been around music all of his life. He recorded his first song at the age of three, \'How Much is that Doggy in the Window\' and despite short periods of inaction has been at it ever since. During his career he has performed with The Boston Tea Party, The Squires, The Cryan\' Shames as a singer, guitarist and drummer before his service in Viet Nam and returned to play with Aorta, Possum River, Platte River Crossing, Otis & The Elevators. He recorded rock, country, blues, jazz, bluegrass and folk (opera not included), was a demo singer for Jim Peterik (the driving force behind Survivor and the Ides of March) and has performed on radio and television commercials for McDonald\'s, Meisterbrau, United Airlines, Franco-American Foods, and performed the National Anthem for corporate events. Al continues to write and perform and his sound has mellowed with age. His repertoire also includes the songs of many great writers including songs written with long time friend and collaborator, John Seay. \'There are a lot of good writers, much better than me, and I enjoy giving their songs a voice\' he says. \'I\'m no spring turkey, but I feel like I have much more to do and say with whatever gifts I\'ve been given.\' Al has recently moved to the southwest, is forever a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, a professional photographer, and enjoys car racing, astronomy, amateur radio, hot black coffee, fine Martin guitars and good Irish whiskey.
