Benefit for the Hurricane Kartrina/ Wilma Victims on CD

On August 29th, 2005 at 6:10 A.M., Hurricane Katrina, a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 145 mph, made it's second landfall near Buras Triumph, Louisiana. Just a few hours later at 10:00 A.M. it made landfall for a third time near the Louisiana/Mississippi border as a category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 125 mph. In the days leading to Hurricane Katrina, several major interstates, including 55, 59, 10, and 12, were made into one way lanes heading away from New Orleans due to the mandatory evacuations. Hurricane Katrina scattered as many as 1 million evacuees across the U.S. The largest dislocation in 150 years. As for the people that stayed, there were a total of 48 thousand people in 338 different shelters. The aftermath left thousands homeless and searching for family members. The destruction before the locals, and the world watching, was catastrophic. On October 24th, 2005 in the early morning hours, Hurricane Wilma, a category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 125 mph, made landfall in the Greater Key West area then moving across to Palm Beach County. As Hurricane Wilma made a diagonal swath across the southern portion of the Florida peninsula several cities, which include, Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami also suffered severe damage due to the intense winds. After the hurricane had passed, it left Key West in absolute devestation. Less then 10 percent of the locals had evacuated which was the complete opposite of the dislocation of Katrina. Wilma had a storm surge from the Gulf of Mexico 10' high, leaving much of the Lower Keys completely flooded. This left tens of thousands of vehicles destroyed and houses full of sea water.. Pictures and belongings of family members floating down to other residences, completely destroyed. Peoples lives no longer inside the house, but all their furniture, appliances and memories sprawled out across the yard soaked in sea water/sewage.. Wilma left destruction of critical infrastructure including power, water, and sewage systems.. Florida Power and Light, the largest electricity utility in the state, reported more than 3,241,000 customers had lost power, equivalent to approximately 6,000,000 people. And more than 20 days had passed but still some residents and buisness owners had no electricity. Originally this CD was going to be a benefit souly for the Katrina Victims.. But due to the destruction to so many Floridians we decided we HAD to help them out too! I was personally affected by hurricane Wilma because my family lives in Key West.. I went down there 2 days after Wilma hit, and what I saw, I couldn't believe.. I had been through Hurricane George and lost my house to wind, but this time Wilma got us with the water, 16 inches of water to be exact.. Looking at Key West and the destruction Wilma had done I couldn't even imagine what Katrina must have been like, and still must be.. But all of us can't dwell on that, as hard as it is to say 'Things will get better' they have to, and they will. We hope that this CD's small contribution will truly help the families in New Orleans, Key West, Miami, and the many other areas that were effected. We can rebuild the towns, the families, the lives, and the dreams of so many that were lost, we just have to believe and keep the faith.. God Bless, Ashlie This CD has hot tracks from artists such as R&B sensation Ashlie Nichole Dean, Ska/punk rockers from Orlando 'Ten13 Concept', Nu rock from 'I Digress' and others. This compilation ranges from these artists mentioned to Styles such as COuntry and Reegae ton. So please help to give alittle to help this tragedy.
