99 Hookers Generica on CD

99 Hooker's Generica is to Pop Music as Crank is to Michelob. With noise legend Donald Miller, reeds master M2 (Chemical Brothers, Mercury Rev)and Lower East Side rhythm king Ray Sage, 99 Hooker's Generica diverges from ye old art rock - instead of making normal people feel edgy, it gives the weird and twisted 40 minutes of belonging. Bio: Chaos Poetry: Lawyers did what God could not and squashed infamous CD on Tzadik -- unholy trinity of God, Porno and Heavy Metal. In less fearful climes 99 published much first collection of then-emerging spoken word band scene in SF (1994). Continues with grant for Performance at Red Eye in Minneapolis, radio, TV ... no shortage of words. Hooked up with film pioneer Martha Colburn (pieces have won Kenneth Patchen Award, 1998; Nation Poetry & Film Festival, Chicago, 1998; Ifilm, Toronto Independent Film fest - Images; Boston Super 8 Fest, etc); also made visuals with Scott Miller--Motion Pictures (1995, Lollapalooza), and 'Oh, Give Me a Home' (San Francisco Poetry and Film Festival, 1995) and Valued Cu$tomer -- Pa was a Hunter, Ma was a Gatherer (1998, Nation Poetry & Film Festival, Chicago). Also own productions and Rev.99: a/v collective exploring environments with structured improvisation, integrating into representation schools, elderly homes, the street, etc. Music on CDs and live; Happy New Year in France, Italy and Switzerland including the Musique Action Festival in Nancy, France. Many US gigs: Knitting Factory, The Kitchen, MOMA, Knickerbockers in Lincoln, NE. Electric Sax as Minneapolis Star said 'makes Jimi Hendrix sound like Elevator music.' And they hated the show.
