Bootleggin' the Blues on CD

Pinetop Perkins Pinetop Perkins is a blues immortal best known for backing Muddy Waters. Pinetop is widely regarded as one of the best blues pianists, with "a left hand as deep and dark as the Mississippi River's bottom, a right hand like a roadhouse-rattling horn section," praised Downbeat magazine. It's with much pleasure that we welcome this legendary musician to the festival. Shannon Curfman Hometown girl Shannon Curfman decided to start a band while jamming with Jeff Healey on his bus at the First Annual Fargo Blues Fest. Two years later, at 13, Shannon and her band stormed the Fargo Blues Fest stage and unleashed a frenzy of explosive guitar chords, impassioned vocals and searing lyrics. Since then Shannon's moved to Minneapolis and shared the stage with such legends as B.B. King and Santana. Her new release, 'Take It Like A Man,' reveals a young woman coming into her own, still light years ahead of her peers. Duwayne Burnside & the Mississippi Mafia Duwayne Burnside is the son of R.L. Burnside, the god of North Mississippi hill country blues who graced the Fargo Blues Fest stage in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Growing up, Duwayne played in his father's family band the Sound Machine Groove. More recently he toured and recorded with the North Mississippi Allstars. An exceptional rhythm player adept at several musical styles, his personal style is a mix of North Mississippi blues and rock. In 2005 he released Under Pressure, which was nominated for a Blues Music Award. T. Albert Lloyd & the Kingpins T. Albert Lloyd and the Kingpins are a powerhouse trio out of the Twin Cities with a wicked aptitude for guitar-heavy blues-rock. For many years, T. Albert paid his dues covering great blues classics for a number of bands. In 2001, he ventured out on a limb and recorded his first CD of original songs, "Tears From My Heart." This year he's touring and promoting his third CD, "What Is Right." Backing him up are jazz musicians Darron, 'DM,' Markk on bass guitar and Spencer Charles on drums. Deep Water Reunion This vetern 5 piece band from Wisconsin has recording credits stretching from Luther Allison, James Solberg to the Mickey Larson Band and Boilerhouse. Dade Grode is a powerhouse of a vocalist and works the audience with his 'Signature' of passing out sunglasses to the ladies. Tommy Swearingen on drums, Carl Brusky on bass, and Doug Kroening and Lee Geiger on guitars round out the reunion. The energy and collective sould of this band make them a freight train of Chicago style blues. Little Bobby & the Storm Bobby Houle was born in the Red Lake Reservation in Minnesota. He is a 3rd generation musician following in the footsteps of his grandfather and uncles who were recently inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame and the National Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Bobby's musical interests leld him to the blues and he released his 1st CD in 2005 entitled 'Before the Storm'. Bobby's style of blues varies from traditional to Texas blues with a personal native touch. Joining Bobby on stage is Rob Bondy on guitar, Mike 'The Axe' Axvig on bass, and Kurt Eylands on drums. Honeyboy & the Bluemoon Band John 'Honeyboy' Hoover was the harmonica player for the former Fargo band the Shufflecats. His loyal fans have talked Honeyboy into performing again, since he is one of the premier harp players in the region. Hovver has brought together servarl marquis Fargo-Moorhead blues players to form this band.
